Mary Atkinson

Mary Atkinson’s involvement with complementary therapies began in the 1980s while working as a healthcare journalist on national magazines. In the mid 1990s she trained to be a practitioner and has qualifications in Holistic Massage, Aromatherapy, Indian Head Massage and Reflexology. She is now a highly respected tutor and was named Complementary Therapist of the Year 2020 by the Federation of Holistic Therapists.

Her first book The Art of Indian Head Massage (Carlton Books) was published in 2000 and since then she has authored other books including Hand and Foot Massage (Carlton Books), A Practical Guide to Self-Massage (Cico Books), Healing Touch for Children (Albert Bridge Books) and Once Upon a Touch….Story Massage for Children (Singing Dragon).

She is Co-Founder of the Story Massage Programme that combines the benefits of positive touch with the fun and creativity of stories, poems, and songs. She is also Co-Founder of the Indian Head Massage Community and runs accredited courses in learning the art of Indian Head Massage.
