Chris Calland was originally a teacher and has been a specialist adviser on children’s behaviour and emotional wellbeing for Bristol LA for 20 years. She also works nationally providing training, advice and coaching on all aspects of children’s behaviour to a wide range of parents and professionals. She has over 25 years experience of working with childen and families.
She has a particular interest in parenting and also in developing children’s healthy body image and she has co-authored two editions of Body Image in the Primary School (David Fulton Books) with Nicky Hutchinson which won an all-parliamentary award. She has advised the government on children’s body image and she appears regularly in the media focussing on children’s behaviour and looking at ways in which we can help young people to cope with the pressures of our modern society. Chris is now under contract to write a book on Anxiety in the Primary School.
Chris co-authored her first children’s book Minnie and Max are OK with Nicky which was published by Jessica Kingsley. The book tackles the difficult subject of body image with another in the pipeline about anxiety in children.
