David Wells is a former Maths teacher. He was the British under-21 chess champion and is now the London-based author of numerous books on mathematical puzzles and general maths. He has also contributed articles to The Mathematical Intelligencer and The Mathematical Gazette amongst many journals.
His books for Penguin include The Penguin Book of Curious and Interesting Numbers, The Penguin Book of Curious and Interesting Geometry, You are a Mathematician and The Penguin Book of Curious and Interesting Mathematics. Other books include Maddeningly Mindbending Puzzles co-authored with Rob Eastaway (new edition 2019) and Prime Numbers: The Most Mysterious Figures in Math published by Wiley New York.
Other books include Games and Mathematics: Subtle Connections, published by Cambridge University Press and Motivating Mathematics, published by Imperial College Press. His most recent book is Hidden Connections, Double Meanings published by Dover.
